π " Three Times Better (Engineer) "
The 3 Things You will learn today are as follows.
β One Engineering Learning
Why only Control Valve are less than Line Size and not On-Off valves.
β One Engineering Question
What will you do if control valve noise is 90 DBA.
β One Career Tip from Top Professionals
If you choose the difficult path then life becomes easy.
Before we start,
If you want to Master and perform "Live" Control Valve Sizing.
Then on 27th and 28th June
We are having a 2 day Valve Sizing Workshop.
For Free.
Join the Whatsapp Community to get the Zoom Link.
Incase, you miss you get the recordings as well.
Lets get to today knowledge sharing email.
#1 -Engineering Learning
Let me ask you a question.
It often appears in tough engineering interviews.
Places like Exxon, Shell, or Qatar Energy.
Why is a control valve smaller than the line?
Is it simply to save costs?
If you answered YES.
Then that answer is entirely incorrect.
Why?
The On-Off Valve Comparison
Let us apply that exact same logic.
We could shrink on-off valves too.
It would definitely save project costs.
But we never do that.
Why?
because Making a control valve smaller... Is done for a completely different reason.
The Science of Pressure Drop
The real answer is pressure drop.
Look at any system with a control valve.
The pressure drop splits into two parts.
- First, across the control valve.
- Second, across the surrounding piping.
The ratio between these two parts... Is formally known as Valve Authority.
Why Authority Matters
More pressure drop across the valve?
Means the valve holds more "Authority".
More DP equals better controllability.
So you might ask me:
Why not make the valve as small as possible?
If we make it too small...
System stress becomes dangerously high.
That results in a poorly designed system.
We need to maintain a strict balance.
- β Pressure across the valve itself.
- β Pressure across the piping components.
This Valve Authority is critical.
It dictates your valve selection and valve characteristics.
Master Control Valve Sizing
This concept is too deep for one email.
But we cover this in-depth in the 2 day workshop.β
Are you an engineering nerd like me?
Want to design bulletproof control valves?
So nobody can ever question your work?
- I am hosting a 2-day workshop on Control Valves.
- It is completely free to attend.
- Dates: 27th and 28th June.
We skip the basic textbook theory.
We dive right into real valve sizing engineering.

I will share the Zoom link there.
PS: What if you miss a session?
You will get the full recordings.
But only if you join the WhatsApp group.β
PS: The reason for Whatsapp group is to send the zoom link to only those interested not email to all the 10,000+ of engineers in this email learning community
#2- Engineering Question
Question of this Week
If you control valve noise is 90 DBA and you are working on a UK project.
What will you do ?
Option 1 : Go for Source (Noise) Treatment
Option 2 : Go for Path (Noise) Treatment
Option 3 : Ask Client.
Option 4 : No Action.
#3 -Career Tip
When something sounds technical, I get excited.
Because the more technical something is, thereβs nearly always low competition.
And you have the opporunity to shine.
So do the hardwork and learn things others are scared of.
Proud of You !
Keep learning and Growing to be World Class Engineer!!
How was today's learning
- Highly Valuable : Reply 1
- Somewhat Valuable : Reply 2
- Needs Improvement : Reply 3
I see each feedback reply as a gift.
Until next week,
Happy Learning & Keep Smiling.
